Happy Birthday #7 to Audace and Ruse!

... and to Marigold and Mr B, even though we think they have already celebrated in their new forever home with Mama Laura and Maxie!

We are so thankful to know that Emily and Marigold and Brutus (now known as Mr. B) are all settling in to their new forever homes!

Grace was so happy to hear the good news that she had to wake Ruse up and give him a bath!!

In summer, 2006, Rose adopted Grace's other two offspring, Brutus and Marigold, to add to Emily in her household. The loss of Rose will be very hard on these kittehs.

My prayers are that all three are adopted by some lovely people.

It's been colder than usual for this late in February ... and it was warmer during most of January than usual, too. But that's all OK, because Grace and her boys don't really know much difference!

On this cold night, though, before I turned the furnace back on, Audace decided he'd rather cuddle up to Ruse for some good snoozin'. Grace, however, likes to keep her distance!

See the empty bed? Audace just wants to keep warm with his bro!

Grace usually likes to snooze near Ruse ...

... or on him ...

... or as close as she can get, even it it means hanging out of her own li'l bed!

When Ruse is cuddling up to his mommy, though, Audace will go off and find somewhere else to snooze ... in this case, one of the hammicks!

They are fairly congenial, but Grace can do without Audace!!

Emergency runs to the vet can really rack up the $$$ owed, and we know what that feels like. No fun at all.

Our cousins!

Just in case anyone forgot, we have three cousins who live with our bean's daughter and family. They live only about a mile from us, but we know each other only through photos!

First up is Kitty. In this photo, he had just awakened from a nap in his favorite box! Isn't he beautiful?

Then there's Princess Meow Meow, the cut-up in the family. She is always thinking up new ways to drive her beans nuts, including running outside in the rain and then surprising them by her wetness ... when they didn't even know she had gotten out! Little imp!!

In the photo below, she was lying on her fave bean's backpack ... trying to make sure he wouldn't leave again ... but alas! He did!!

And here he is, at age 16, the fabulous "old man" of the family: Cabernet! He made the moves from Indiana to California to New Mexico to California to Virginia to Texas. He hates thunderstorms, and once he runs and hides in the house, no one can find him! He usually chooses some cozy space deep in a closet!

Last post for 2012!

I've been taking photos of Grace and boys as they cuddle up and snooze together. They don't normally do this except during winter. I don't know why ... because I keep the furnace set at 69 or 70, and since they are indoor-onlys, how would they know the difference between summer and winter? Hmmm! Anyway, here are some of the more recent piles of orange and white!

This morning. Notice Audace's foot on Grace's belly. She must really be zonked out to tolerate this!!

Last night! 

Yesterday afternoon. Notice that Ruse needs to be in contact with his mom! This is not unusual!!

Two brothers ... almost always in touch!

Climbing toy ... continued

Ruse is the one who will climb the "ladder" on the closet door. Grace and Audace don't seem to be interested anymore, but as long as one kitty likes it, I'll keep it!

Here, he seemed to be telling me, "No! I don't want to get down yet!!"

Contemplating jumping down ... but he ended up staying there a while longer!

Ruse's trip to the v-e-t!

Last Thursday, Ruse had his two-month-overdue visit to the v-e-t. It was just for his annual check-up, and he is absolutely fine and healthy!

He sure didn't like that ride in the car, though! All of about 8 miles, but he clearly was upset! Thankfully, he is very healthy and is only a teeny bit overweight. He even let one technician give him a mani and pedi! One!! It's always taken two people before this!!

Finally, this morning, Audace and Ruse started playing on it. 

They are funny!!

Helping a friend

To everyone in the cat-blogging community ~

A friend of ours is facing unexpected medical issues and bills ... and he needs our help, along with our purrs and prayers. If many different people and kittehs help by donating what they can, then it's amazing what obstacles can be overcome!

Kiril, along with his trusty pals Professor Nikita and Miss Elvira, has been hosting most of the Carnival of the Cats collections on Sunday nights for quite a while now, and they do a wonderful job. Have you read them? Each collection is well put together and helps us all get to know our fellow bloggers and kittehs more and better!

Kiril, Nikita, and Elvira are some of the bravest people I know. They pulled up roots and moved to Texas in September, and they are now adjusting to life in the big city. Kiril is learning how to use Metro and is on the job-hunt, while Professor Nikita and Miss Elvira keep the home fires burning!
