Audace is at peace now

 Audace, the last of Grace’s babies to enjoy life, went to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. He was quite healthy and playful and loving almost all his life! He was just a month shy of his 19th birthday. I’ll truly miss this wonderful guy. 

My Geriatric Cats!

 This year, my geriatric cats will be 17 and 18: Audace, 17 in April; Grace, 18 in June. Are they showing signs of their aging? Well, yes and no. 

Grace has lost quite a bit of weight and sometimes has problems digesting her food. She looks almost skeletal, and sometimes her back legs don’t seem to work normally. But then — on most days, she eats “like a horse” and everything works just fine — legs, voice — everything!

Audace has changed quite a bit since we lost Ruse in December 2019. That was a blow. Suddenly, Audace’s best pal was gone. Of course, he didn’t understand, but he definitely needed another pal. I thought he and Grace would draw closer, but that didn’t happen. He now chooses to sleep on my lap, talks to me lots, and just generally likes to be around me, wherever I am.

Since we aren't on Facebook anymore, we really ought to update our blog periodically, I think! So … HAPPY 2002!

Then the night of January 2 turned cold (well, cold for these two pampered darlings!), so snuggling up was needed!

Here's what they looked like at age 

6 weeks!

And here they are today!! 

They are so much fun! 

We are loved!

We can talk about this now -- a bit over a month after Hurricane Harvey stalled over the Houston area. We are very grateful that our house didn't flood, but our food lady didn't want to take chances, as the water in the street kept rising up our front yard and the driveway. 

Our food lady decided to move us all to her daughter's family's house. Their street was flooding, too, but since they have a two-story house, we could all move upstairs if we needed to. The three of us were ensconced in their guest bedroom upstairs, and while it was NOT fun for all three of us to be stuck in one room together (and with our food lady overnight), we were safe. Very unhappy, but safe!

Below are two photos that show how we were moved to the two-story house. In the first photo, you can see our food lady's grandson (at the right) who is tall enough and strong enough to carry Audace in his carrier above the water, which was about two feet deeper at the previous intersection! Our food lady was in the pink jacket. 

Then (second photo) the nice, tall grandson and his dad went back to get Grace and Ruse. You can also see our food lady's grandgirl who had guarded us until her dad and brother could go back to get us.

Another Gotcha Day - and we're all still here!

We have now set ourselves a record! Three kittehz -- mama and sons -- who have all lived in the same house with the same food lady for 11 years. Well, this may not seem like a record to others who have lived longer, but it's a first for all of us! Our food lady has had only two other kittehz who had longer lives: Angel Pluto and Angel Indy. But they all moved from one house to another with her, and other almost-siblings were in and out of their lives. 

Grace, Audace, and Ruse are unique to this food lady!!

10th Gotcha Day!

I love this day ... just about the best day of the whole year! Today is the TENTH anniversary of the day Deb and ML brought Grace and Pete and Foster (now Audace and Ruse) to me. We had such fun!!

Ten years old!!

It's hard for me to believe that these guys are 10 years old; they certainly don't act like it! They are healthy, full of the zoomies after each meal, curious about almost everything and everyone, sometimes lovey and sometimes quarrelsome with each other. The list goes on!!

Overall, they are a great joy in my home! I can't imagine life without them!!

Gettin' ready for cooler nights

I got a new small (read: one-cat) pet bed on sale the other day, and Ruse is having a tough time learning how to use it. Grace figured it out right away!

Here's Ruse yesterday morning, waiting for his mama to join him in a snooze! (She never came!!)

And here they all are in their respective snoozin' spots last night ... just as I had hoped. L-R: Grace in the new bed, Ruse as the buffer between her and Audace, and Audace taking up his 2/3rds of the blanket!!

This little scene blew me away last night. Usually Grace won't allow Audace to get anywhere close to her, but last night they were snoozing together! Amazing Grace!!
