BIG kitties!

Grace & Company didn't go, of course, but my daughter and grandbeans and I saw these BIG lady kitties at Houston's Downtown Aquarium last Saturday. Impressive! (Click on it to "biggify" and see these beauties better!)

Crazy Saturday morning!

Suddenly this morning, Grace took it into her head to race around the whole house and back again. She ended up in the living room where the play cubes are. She raced in so fast that she turned the cube over on one side, thereby twisting all the connecting cubes into a pile-up! Audace seemed dumbfounded ... usually he and Ruse are doing all the running around!

Audace had to chase Grace out of the cubes and then figure out what the heck she was doing in there!


Hmmm! Maybe it was something outside the cubes that got her attention. Audace can't seem to figure it out!


Ruse stayed safely out of the way on the windowsill while all this silliness was going on!

Doldrums

There's not much new around here. We eat. We sleep. We run, chase, play. The twine tied to toy mousie tails continue to be the BEST toys of all, and that S-toy is the BEST scratcher in the world!!

GK (see below) is still at our bean's daughter's house, and the grandbeans take really good care of him. He's lots of fun -- likes to roll over and play. Cabbie is still very jealous, and he keeps the grandbeans busy, too, just retrieving him from the back yard. He still doesn't play well with other kitties, especially GK.

We need our bean to take more photos of our gorgeous selves so we can post more stuff!

A new "cousin" - sort of!

Here's a cutie who has adopted my grandbeans' garage and backyard. When he first showed up, he was really skinny -- too skinny -- and his fur was not in good shape. He clearly hadn't eaten much in a while. So now he has a bed and regular food and water, and he's been checked out at the v-e-t's -- got caught up on shots. We've made flyers which we will laminate and post around the area. He is clearly someone's pet, but no one knows who -- and he's not talking! His name? "Kitty" for now, although "Garage Kitty" was his nickname at first.





Of course, Grace & Company are completely oblivious to his existence! But Cabernet knows he's out there, and Cabernet doesn't play nice. So he's restricted to being indoor-kitty until he learns some manners -- which may never happen!

Rippin' it up!

I know it's not Audace alone, but he's the biggest user of the S-toy. They all love it, but he dominates it!! The close-ups show how he's already in the process of ripping up the carpeted spots!

Our Wordle!

Going slightly nuts!

Audace and Ruse are easily riled up! They need ... they BEG ... for playtime, morning and evening. (And of course the rest of the day and night is reserved for snoozing and eating, mostly snoozing!)

Here's Audace, all tangled up in his twine toys! He doesn't seem to care if I fling the twine around so he can chase and jump or if it's all draped around him so he can run around the house like a whirling dervish, chasing that twine!


And here's Ruse. He had chased the twine toy all over the place -- and he ended up under the play cubes!! He likes to push them around the room from underneath!


Here's Ruse again, getting in some scratching time on what Audace thinks is his own S-toy!!


Here's Audace again, having run from the garage through the hallway and family room, into the living room, into the kitchen and ending up on top of the fridge. Well, he's a BIG boy and needs his running space, that's clear!

Catching up again!

Holy smoke! What a time we had last week. I'm sure Grace & Company felt rather neglected in the areas of playtime and personal attention. Grandbean Kira had fever, coughing, etc., all last week - missed all four school days! - and Grandbean Austen had semester exams - different pick-up times all week long! Thankfully, Grandbean Parker is healthy and had normal school days last week. He's the only one who did!

Here are Grace and Audace inspecting the books and other goodies from one of Deb & ML's auctions - this photo is from Jan 9!! They had to snoopervise the unpacking, you know!


And here is Ruse - still slim and lithe enough to get to the top of the cupboards and over to the area where both he and Audace used to snooze when they were still kittens! I'm sure he is mystified about why it's so hard to get past that funny ceiling right there. Tight fit!

This week should be back to normal - whatever that is!

Audace watches TV!

Pluto and Indy used to do this, but this is the first time I've seen Audace pay attention to anything on TV. I was watching some of the Wild America DVDs my bro sent me for Christmas, and this one was called "Wild Texas" -- filled with bird and other animal sounds. Audace paid attention; Grace and Ruse slept through it all!

New S-toy! Yayyy!

I finally couldn't stand it - the broken S-toy just really bothered me, although Audace and Ruse seemed to think it was fine. Anyway, I couldn't resist getting a new one. I missed the beautiful, perfect S-curve this toy is meant to have! Grandbeans helped me get the new one yesterday - we had a discussion about color - it had to be different from the first one! This one has more gray in it. Audace and Ruse don't really care! They just love it!! Well, mostly Audace - he's pretty hoggish about this - doesn't share well!

Tummy Tuesday

Audace's owie!

Audace has an owie above his right eye. It's not very visible in the first photo unless you click on it to "biggify"! But it's clearly there in the second photo.

He and Ruse have been tusseling a little too roughly lately, I guess. (Grace's claws aren't long enough or sharp enough to cause something like this.)

UPDATE (Sunday morning, Dec 21): Audace's owie looks much better today. Gotta get Grandbean Austen to help clip all their claws TODAY!!

UPDATE #2 (Monday, Dec 22): All claws were trimmed late yesterday afternoon, and the owie is healing up just fine. Whew! Gotta keep better watch on those little needle-sharp claws, obviously!

They just look like a tangled pile of kitties! Hard to tell where one ends and the other begins!

If you go to my other blog, it'll be clear why they're having such a tough time staying warm, even in the house with the furnace on. A very freaky storm is bringing a light snowfall to the Houston area. Very weird, indeed!

Keeping warm

How Grace, Audace, and Ruse keep warm on cold days and nights -



Ruse isn't very good at finding warm cozy spots on his own. He needs his brother or mommy to help him. Otherwise, he ends up sleeping like a doughnut!

Well used, for sure!

Remember back in September when we first got this wonderful toy (scratcher, lounge chair, whatever you want to call it!)? Oh, that beautiful S-curve! Ruse and Audace and Grace admired it and loved it ...





... and Audace loved it so much he broke it! Well, it's not really broken, I guess. Just bent! Almost flattened at one end!!


But they still all love it, poor thing!

Getting ready for guests!

We're all getting our house ready for guests. My son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter will be visiting us for the Thanksgiving holidays. This means, however, that Audace and Ruse have to give up "their" room so that Simone has a place to sleep. Grace is trying to help Ruse get used to snoozing elsewhere, as you can see in the photos below! (Audace has already staked out his domain in my room - a nice comfy reading chair with a blankee on it to snuggle up in.)

Easy on Sunday!

Grace and Audace were lounging around near each other, for a change. Usually, Grace is on the couch and Audace is in another room for his long afternoon nap by now (12:30 pm Central time!). So this was a surprise for me.



But wait! Where's Ruse? He's usually snoozing deeply by now, too, but near me or Grace somewhere. Nope -- HE'S the one who's in the other room, almost snoring!


Always unpredictable, these li'l darlin's!!
