Happy fall!!

Grace was helping figure out what fall decorations we should use and where! She's a great snoopervisor!

She also had to control her sons ... little butt-in-skis that they are!

First Ruse (above) and then Audace (below). They just can't give their mom any peace!

We decided to use the big wreath on the front door and put the other items on the dining and kitchen tables. Grace is so artsy! She really helps make the right choices!!

Ruse ... relaxed!

You can always tell when a cat trusts you ... he (or she!!) relaxes completely! And isn't that the softest, most snorgleable tummy you ever saw???  =)

Princess Meow Meow thought she had a lizard cornered the other day ... but it was outside the window and she was inside!! Can you spot the lizard between the glass and the outside blind??

Livestrong 2012

In honor of Anne and all cancer survivors ...
and in Memory of Vic and Lilly Lu and all who have gone before us.

We are just heartbroken about the loss of Lilly Lu. We loved going to HER BLOG and reading about her push-and-pull relationship with her housemates and her love for her mom, Laura.

We know there have been many, MANY sad days lately. All we have to do is go onto Facebook to realize how frequently these things happen, but that doesn't make it any easier to get past these miserable times.

Please stop by Laura Fritz's page on Facebook or Lilly Lu's blog (linked above) to give your condolences to her family. They really miss her terribly.

Purrs and Prayers

We are purring and praying for Ann and all her family and friends.

And we are purring and praying for Tamir to straighten himself out. We want him to follow the example of Anne's Cabernet and come through this to live to be an "old man."

We hope everyone out there is purring and praying, too.

UPDATE 9/20/2012: Tamir has gone to the Bridge, and we are purring and praying for his family left behind.

Snoopervising kids!

We have been busy, busy, busy. Our grandbeans have been keeping our bean busy, chauffeuring them to driving school, ROTC, and volleyball practices and games ... and then this past week, the grandbeans actually came and LIVED at our house! They really kept us busy ... no time for good long naps! We had to make sure they were playing their video games correctly, eating all the right junk food, and on and on.

Here you can see Audace, snoopervising while grandbean Parker played some war game on our TV.

Ruse was usually snoopervising whatever grandbean Kira was doing, and Grace parked herself in the middle of the floor at the entrance to the kitchen so everyone would have to step over her whenever he or she went to the kitchen to get more junk food! All kittehz in this house have now disappeared into their various fave napping spots. LOTS of snoozin' to catch up on, that's for sure!

Our Gotcha Day #6!!

Six years ago, these little beauties made their entrance into my life. I love 'em more each day!! Thanks to you, Deb and ML, for rescuing these little jewels and bringing them to me!

Grace was exhausted from all that feeding she was doing!!

These guys could still fit in that teeny space between the books and the next shelf up!

Happy, HAPPY Gotcha Day ... to all of us!!

Cats sleep funny sometimes!

I'm always amused at some of my little pals' weird places and positions for snoozing!
Here, Grace is half on that pillow and half on the arm of the couch! Clearly, she doesn't want to be disturbed!

And Ruse ... he likes to be on or near anything of mine. Here, he's commandeered my housecoat!

This is a fun shot of Ruse and his mommy snoozin' together -- and Ruse is using my Kindle as his pillow. Sometimes he does that with my phone or a TV remote ... whatever's handy!

Audace goes off into other rooms for his serious snoozin' -- usually on a dining chair or under a bed!

Incredible sadness

I am dumbstruck by all the sadness this month. I thought maybe it was just me, but Zoolatry's email this morning let me know that lots of people are feeling this. It all reminds me of 1991 when my daughter and I lost three precious cats to one thing or another.

~ Prissy: Anne's first pet; we were used to Prissy's disappearing periodically when she was off on hunting trips; she always brought back trophies! But we noticed in early 1991 that she was gone 4 days, then 5 days ... and she never returned. She was only 4 years old.

~ Elvin: Anne's second pet; he was so overjoyed to get outside, and we were so worried about his lack of street-smarts. Sure enough, one night he got out and we couldn't find him. The next morning, I found him on my way to work; he'd been hit by a car. Broke my heart.

~ Greyboy: Anne found him in 1987 when (we estimated) he was about 4 or 5 weeks old; he still needed his mama, so we fed him differently for about 2 weeks until he learned to eat on his own. He was such a lover and purrer! But when he was 4, we had a very difficult summer, in and out of the vet's office. We also had new kittens in our household then, so I had Greyboy and the 3 kittens tested for different things. The kittens were all fine, but Greyboy had feline leukemia, so I had to help him to the bridge.

In 1991, we also gained two who stayed with me for 12 and 15 years: Pluto and Indy. Here and Here and Here. Then in 2003, when I lost Pluto to an illness the vets could never identify or treat, a friend gave me this poem in a condolence card. The thoughts here really helped me deal with the loss of my Pluto, and I hope it helps everyone who is feeling grief and sadness today.

“Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you.....
I loved you so -
‘twas Heaven here with you.”

– by Ilsa Paschal Richardson
