We celebrate Veterans Day!

In our family, there are many veterans of the US military forces. We celebrate them and all those who have served over time. It's because of them that we can have blogs and live our lives as we wish. Celebrate Veterans Day!!

Our kitties understand this concept, too.
They love their freedom to live in safe homes.

In Canada, the UK and other Commonwealth countries it's called Remembrance Day. We wear poppies, there are many ceremonies/services country-wide as well as the big one in our nation's capital, and we have our two minutes of silence at 11AM.

Both of our mom's grandfathers served in WWII, and she has a first cousin who has been in Afghanistan.

We're so lucky to live in a country (countries) where we enjoy so many freedoms, where we have peace.

We're all fine ... life moves right along!

I used to teach students that the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month = armistice ending WWI. I know that armistice signing was done on purpose at that particular time, and this was a good way for kids to be able to remember what and when and why. I made sure we had just finished a unit on poetry which focused on Wilfred Owen's and Siegfried Sassoon's works. It worked -- especially with high school seniors, for some reason!
